I am so tired! But it's a good tired :)
I'm sore from teaching Wed. - I got to the gym early and ran two miles before teaching my sculpting class. My inner thighs are so not happy with me right now! :P But I ran them in under twenty minutes - which isn't bad given that I haven't run in a while. For some reason, sunny weather puts me in the mood to run, even if it's just on a treadmill :P
The reason I got to the gym early was because I didn't go to work that morning. I met my Aunt's class at Sullivan Square to talk to them about my book. It was so much fun to read the first chapter with them, talk about writing and the publishing process, and answer their questions. I can't wait until I can start doing actual visits to schools. Then we went on a tour of Horn Book Magazine. It was great! The lady who gave us the tour - Anne Quirk - was super-nice and funny, and it was so interesting to see their offices. The magazine is the premier source of reviews of children's books. They're owned and run independently, which is great because it means they're unbiased. Walking into their office is like walking into a library - there are books piled and stacked everywhere. All the walls are lined with bookshelves, too. She and the editor talked to us about the reviewing process, etc. It was quite interesting.
Last night was an extra rehearsal, and Tues. pm was Bible study. I'm glad I went - even though I was tired - as I got to meet some new, cool people. And see some of my friends who joked that it's a good thing I keep this blog or they wouldn't know what was going on in my life! :P
Later!

Edits done up to chapter nine! Woo hoo!
But no crits posted on the OWW :(
Must rectify situation immediately!
Bleh!
So much to do...so little time!
I have about five pieces to crit today, (Larry West, A. Alward, an K. Kobylarz among others), as well as work of my own I want to get done. I started revisions on Soul Stone last night - first four chapters are done but now I need to type up the changes. And I'm trying to figure out if there are any larger cuts I can make in order to save on word count. Because several of my ideas for revisions will make it longer, not shorter, and I'm already over the limit for the YA age group. Blah!
Other than revisions, I did laundry and talked on the phone with my sister last night. She's coming out here in three weeks - woo hoo! With my Mom, my brother and my nephew - yeah! But I won't have any time once they get here, so I'm trying to finish edits of Soul Stone before then. We'll see! (fingers crossed).

Wow!
Had no time to post this weekend, and much has happened ;)
In a nutshell - the show opened, went well, and my website is up.
The longer version :)
We opened Friday night, after grueling rehearsals all this last week, and it went really well. Except for the fight scene. The lighting designer ran the strobe at a different speed than during rehearsals, so Scott actually hit the other guy! It freaked all of us out, there was blood everywhere, we didn't know if it was fake or real, or what to do. But Dan - the guy who got hit - was helped offstage by Jill after the scene and we figured out it was real. Eight stitches. It was seriously scary. And he finished the show and everything!
Then afterwards myself, Joel and his friends Tim and Mike, and Mariah and Chris from the show all went to Flash's for drinks. Mental note for future reference: do not drink two margaritas on an empty stomach again ;) After behaving badly - well, not really, just dancing with both Tim and Joel, being loud and obnoxious, and sitting on alternately, Joel or Mariah's lap - we headed over to Little Stevie's for pizza. I didn't get home til 4:30am!
Sat. I woke up late (duh!) and met Anna for coffee and walking around Boston. It was a beautiful day, so we hung out on the Commons, talked about everything and anything, and just generally had a good time. She's such an awesome person/friend, a true sweetheart in the best sense of the word. Then we ran the show again Sat. pm, but I didn't go out, rather went home and got in bed before midnight! I also got to IM with eBear, which was v. good given that I had many questions for her and needed advice.
Finished reading King Rat by China Mieville. Frankly, not impressed. At all. I didn't much care for the main character, and figured the whole plot out by the third chapter. I hate it when I'm not surprised. Parts of it felt like a rip-off of Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, though I'm not sure which book came out first. Gaiman's books are much better, IMO.
Sunday was an early call to run some blocking. The show was dead - hardly anyone in the audience - but we had a blast running it. Ric - the director - took Ravi's place as Ravi was at an audition, and he got wild on stage! Then afterwards we went out to Chili's for dinner and told the waiter that it was Ric's b-day in order to get a free piece of cheesecake - which we shared around the table. Apparently it's a tradition that every time we go out it gets to be someone's b-day. I love theatre people! :P
I have tonight off - yeah! - and plan on working on Soul Stone. Then Bible study Tues., rehearsal Wed., Thurs. night I'm meeting up wtih Jess and Mike, Anna, Jen, Tina and James, Leane and possibly others at the Wonder Bar. Joel's meeting up with us later so that my friends can meet him. After his latex show, that is. The guy has no shame ;) (Not that he'd have any reason to have any...as he is hot as hell...or that I'm one to point fingers...given what I end up wearing by the end of my current show...or rather, not wearing ;P)
Amy Alward has posted new chapters on the OWW, yeah! And I'm going to run around telling everyone to check out my website. Oh, and I need to order business cards. That's about it for now. Later!
