Dena's Blog

A daily/weekly/whenever I feel like it blog for fantasy writer Dena Landon

Life has been busy, as usual. A quick update on the writing world;

- Canal Dancer has been rejected by two more publishers. I think it's still out at five others, so I haven't completely given up hope yet.

- Homefinding is at six publishers, no word yet. I try to forget when I have a novel out searching for a home, but it's hard. This is my 'fae come to Boston with the Irish during the potato famine and get into all sorts of trouble' novel.

- In the Shadow of An Oak is up to roughly 107 pages. It's going slowly, partially because I have so much going on in the dance part of my life and it sucks up a lot of my creativity. I still need to do more research on Native American and Norse myth (this is my "Norse gods came to America and mated with the Native gods and now their kids are duking it out" novel). I've fallen into the habit of going to a local coffee shop on Sunday mornings and working on it then - so only once a week, but that's really all I have time for.

For publicity all I have scheduled is an upcoming talk to a Girl Scout troop at the Wild Rumpus bookstore on December 2nd at 4pm. Anyone else who'd be interested in meeting me is welcome to stop by and hang out. There will be an article about me coming out in the January catalogue for Brodart (a library wholesaler), I'm really excited about it, though slightly nervous to read what they'll say. I hope I don't sound like a total idiot :)

I've been receiving emails from fans who've read SQ and enjoyed it - it's a lot of fun, and I'm trying to respond to each one, though it can take me a few days. It's encouraging to know that other people have enjoyed my work, and I love to hear from readers.

That's all for now -

D
